Eire Óg hosted their annual Pat Rice Memorial juvenile hurling tournament at Woodlands on Sunday 29th June. P6 teams from Dunloy, Keady, Rossa and St Gall’s came along to compete with Brid Óg.

The tournament was played on a round-robin league format. There were many very talented hurlers on all teams, with players displaying great skill and determination. Some of the games were evenly contested and at the end of two hours of very competitive hurling, Brid Óg emerged as victors after winning all four of their matches. This meant they retained the trophy they had won in 2014.

Eire Óg would like to thank Dunloy, Keady, Rossa and St Gall’s for competing in what is a very important tournament for the club. Regardless of the results all the kids playing can be very proud of their efforts.

Our under 16s are playing a in new merger team called Clan Na Gael. This is merger of ourselves St Agnes and Lisburn. Below are  reports from our initial league games.
Thursday 15 April 2015
Eire Og under 16,s kicked off their league campaign under the new amalgamated team Clan Na nGael. We faced a tough opener against St Brigids  and while we lost by 4-11 to 2-4  the new team nevertheless played with enthusiasm and commitment which will stand us well later in the league. Encouragingly we had a panel of 24 and everyone got a game . The Ogs were represented by Jarlath Devlin, Conor Erskine Mark Hamill, Ewan Rush, Donal Mackin, Ciaran Hines, Ronald Donnelly, Eoghan Duffy Peter Corr, Sean Lagan and Adam McKenna.
Best of the Ogs was Jarlath Devlin who had a superb game at centre half forward.

Thursday 22 April
Clan na nGael 9-18 St Malachys 2.4
Eire Og under 16s playing as part of the Clan na Gael team secured  their first win of the season with a convincing win against a battling St Malachys team . Again we had a large panel  which is fantastic for the future and encouragingly  all the Ogs under 16s attending. The team played extremely well scoring  some superb goals. Conor Erskine in particular had a great game playing in new role at corner forward  and bagging himself a brace of goals.
Thursday 6 May
Clan na Gael 2- 9. Saffrons 3-9
Our under 16s playing as part of the Clan na Gael amalgamation lost narrowly to another amalgamtaed team - Belfast Saffron's which is a merger of Davitts and St Teresa's . This was an excellent game of football and the Ogs were very much to the front with Ronan Donnelly and Eoghan  Duffy both having excellent games. Again it was encouraging to see large squad turn up and in total  24 players got a run out. With each game the new  merger team is  improving and putting together some excellent moves resulting in well taken scores.
