Conor McGreevy Tournament

15/06/2013Posted by Liam

The U12s took part in the Conor McGreevy Memorial Cup organised by Lagmore Gaels last weekend and performed magnificently beating St Patricks (0-4 to 1-0) and St Brigids (2-7 to 0-2) along the way. An unlucky draw with Pearses meant that the lads had to beat St Galls in their final league match to progress to the final.  This proved to be a step too far for our young squad going down by 4 points but they can be proud of their efforts on the day.

U12 Hurling Div 1 League

10/06/2012Posted by Darren Hamill

U12 Division 1 Hurling League  :  Brid Og 3-3  Rossa 3-11  :  Rossa Park  :  10th June 2012

Brid Og continued their U12 hurling league campaign against Rossa at Rossa Park in what was perfect hurling conditions.

The hosts started the stronger and pulled away with some long ranged points and their continued pressure on Andrew, Connla and Rory on the full back line resulted in the sliotar hitting the back of the net pass Ruairi.

Late in the first half the Og's got some possession in the Rossa half and our midfield duo of Ronan C and Tom started to pressurise their opponents. This resulted in a series of "65's" being awarded to Brid Og but unfortunately this could not be converted to scores.

The second half was a much more even affair when our players started to believe in themselves. Mentors John and Oliver asked the players to go back to the basics of hurling, to "mark their man" and "win their battle" against their opponent and the players duly obliged. In a ten minute spell during the second half, which corresponded with Rory playing in more advanced role, the Og's had Rossa rattled when we replied with 3 goals and as many points and every time the Og's got possession of the sliotar it looked like we were going to score. Unfortunately Rossa also continued their scoring mostly through frees, but they were definitely not the free scoring team of the first half.

After the final whistle both mentors John and Oliver were very pleased with the spirit and performances of the players and if they can produce the same level of commitment and believe against Saint Gall's the game is their for the taking.

Well done Brid Og!

Eire Og / Naomh Una v’s McDermott’s

03/05/2012Posted by Martin Toner

This was the first League outing for the newly amalgamated Under 12 Eire Og / Naomh Una team. The team on the day was made up of 14 Eire Og and 5 St Agnes players from age 10-12 years.

The first League match of the season got off to a resounding victory with a 6-8 victory over McDermott’s 2-2. Eire Og/Naomh Una totally dominated in the first half with a 4-1 lead to Mc Dermott’s 0-1. There were great goals from Mark, Conor and Daniel backed up with a point from Ronan and a great try from Diarmuid after being awarded a free. Aaron Mc Conville was great in goals for the first half of the match while Brendan and Ryan worked hard at keeping the ball well out of Mc Dermott’s way.   Efforts from Eoin and Dylan ensured the ball was returned to midfield. We lost Fintan just before half time when he became unwell but he had tried hard.

The second half brought another goal from Conor and the points swiftly followed from Brian, Mark, Tieran and Conor. There were two further serious attempts to increase the points score by Conor and Adam T. Some changes were made to make sure all the team were on the pitch and we saw determined effort from Adam B, Conor Mc K and Rory whilst Adam Mc K did a great job in goals.
