Friendly v Lisburn

25/08/2015Posted by Ciaran McGarrity

Tuesday 25 August

Eire Og under 10's played an excellent game of football against Lisburn on a wet and windy night at Lisburn. Despite missing a number of players the Ogs had  a squad of 8.  It took the Ogs a while to get going and get adjusted to the slippy conditions but with Conal McGibbon,  Pete McLean and Luke Shearer in superb  form at full back the Ogs were able to restrict Lisburn to few points. David Prenter and Pearse Hamill soon got to grips at midfield and were supplying our full forward line of Zach Watson and Declan McGibbon with opportunities to rack up the scores and allow the Ogs to race into an early lead. Lisburn however soon came back and only for Daniel in goals would have went in at half time at least six points in front. Daniel, the youngest player on the pitch, was brilliant in goals and played the game of his life and provided the platform for the Ogs to take the lead again in what was turning out to be a real nip and tuck affair. All in all this was an excellent game with the Ogs playing some exciting football with particularly impressive performances from the youngest members of the squad in Declan and Daniel. Credit to the boys for playing in such difficult conditions and to the many parents who came along to support.

S Antrim P6 Go Games

P6/Under 10’s

Saturday 22nd March

The Go Games took place at the Lamh Dhearg 3G facility on the afternoon of 22nd March.

Eire og played against a very strong Lamh Dhearg side, in challenging weather conditions of hail and sleet. There were some great performances especially in the centre of the field where Sophia and Katie made some excellent blocks to help the Og’s to keep possession. The points taken by David, Stephen, Pierce and Luke were matched by the Lamh Dhearg forwards. Eire Og showed some great passing play and were unlucky not to score a few more points due to strong defending by the Lamh Dhearg team and at the final whistle the game ended in a narrow victory for Lamh Dhearg.

Eire Og played against Rossa in the second game. This was a very close run game. This game saw some great points scored by David and Stephen, while in defence Luke and Conal gave an excellent display, winning the ball back for the Ogs. Pierce and Sophia played in the centre and made some great blocks on the Rossa players and produced some great passing play (and a few scores of their own) to help the Og forwards to keep pressing at Rossa. This excellent team performance helped Eire Og to a close and well-earned victory.

The third game was against St. John’s. After a slow start which saw the Og’s concede a few points, they soon found their feet, with some great defending and passing play from Sophia and Alannah. Luke made some great saves to keep Eire Og in it, and was able, thanks to some long kicks from the keeper, to set up Pierce, David and Stephen to finish with some excellently taken points. At the final whistle Eire Og had won this game comfortably.

Jack McCartan 2013

16/06/2013Posted by Liam

Our U10s took part in the first stage of the prestigious Jack McCartan tournament organised by St Pauls on Sunday 16th June.  This is a tournament in which our young lads traditionally do well and this year was no exception.  In a combined team with St Agnes, they beat St Pauls (3-6 to 2-3), St Teresas (1-6 to 0-6) and St Brigids B (0-7 to 0-3) to top the group and reach the semi-finals of the Cup competition.  The semi-final was played the following Sunday when the young Ogs took on St Brigids A.  In very windy conditions, the Ogs matched their opponents all over the pitch but just couldn’t convert the many chances that came their way eventually losing to1-2 to 0-0.  A great effort from all the Ogs players over the two days which with a little more luck may have reaped even greater dividends.

Ogs Representatives:  Odhran Maxwell (0-3), Cormac Devlin (1-2), Stephen Hughes, Gerard Whelan, Shea McManus, Pearse Hamill (1-0).
