A severely depleted team on account of injuries and exams lost heavily in their opening match of the minor league.  Some of the younger players such as Conor Ellis and Conor McGeough battled right to the end but this was a match best forgotten. Final score 5-9 to 0-2

Eire 5-7 : 3-9 O’Donnell’s

Following last weeks embarrassing defeat by Lamh Dhearg,   Eire Og were in no mood to lose another game. Thankfully and despite not playing to their best and missing few key players the Ógs secured their first league points of the season. The game however started ominously   for the Ógs with goal and a point conceded in the first minute. However helped by  some excellent fielding in the middle of the park by Conor McKenna the Ógs got a grip of the game and deservedly ook the lead with well taken pints from Conor Browning and Conor McKenna as well as a superb goal from Dee Fitzpatrick. Despite playing against then wind the Ógs dominated possession with Conor Cochrane and Aidan McGarrity winning a lot of ball around the middle. As half time approach Ciaran McAreavey scored an n excellent individual goal to leave three points between the teams at half time with the wind at their back in the second half and their football improving it was hoped that the Ógs would go onto dominate possession and take the win in style. However O’Donnell came out in the second half much more determined and soon pared d back teh Ógs lead and indeed following some sloppy defending took the lead with 15 minutes left. However with Chris Murphy and Ciaran rice dominating g the half back line the Ógs once again racked up the scores with Conor McKenna and Oisin Rogers bagging a goal and five points between them. To leave the Ógs four points to the good at the end. All in all a good win for the Ógs against determined opposition but it highlighted the need for   more work on the training pitch
