S Antrim P5 Go Games

29/09/2015Posted by Ciaran Grant

Brid Ógs P5/P4 team played 4 matches at the South Antrim Go Games at Woodlands. The players didn’t seem to have woken up in the first match against St Gall’s. Though they dominated possession, only 1 point was converted with the Ogs having a number of wides. They were caught napping when a St Gall’s player got a goal soccer-style to give them the win.

Next up was a game against St Teresa’s. It took a while to get going in this game, but Brid Óg ran out comfortable enough winners. Liam in goals was a spectator for the full 10 minutes.

After this, an extra game against Davitt’s was squeezed in, as Rossa failed to turn up for the game. Brid Óg took their chances much better in this game with James and Conor getting most of the scores. By the end the Ógs won by 4-2 to 0-3.

Finally, there was a match against another St Gall’s team. This mainly became a battle between James and one particular St Gall’s player who executed a number of brilliant blocks. But, James did get the better of a couple of times and Brid Óg got a goal and a point, which was enough to win the game.

Also, playing today was the P3/P2 team, which also included players younger than this. Nevertheless, the performed very well. A narrow defeat against St Galls was followed by a comfortable victory over St Teresa’s and a draw with Davitt’s

Brid Og P3/2: Roisha, Conor, Rauiri, Eimear, Emma, Holly,Meabh, Rionach
Brid Óg P5/4: Liam G, Liam D, Oisin D, Oisin M, Conor, James, Donncha, Ronan, Aoife, Tetchin

Thanks to Simon McCrory and Kieran Megraw for organising and running the games today. Thanks to Kevin for taking the younger team, and to Paddy and Joe for their assistance. Thanks once again to the parents for their support on the sidelines today.

P4/P3 Go Games

Brid Óg's P4/P3 team also took part in Go Games at St Pauls. Unfortunately they only had 2 games due to the numbers turning up for the other teams. Their first game was against St Pauls, though they included 3 kids from Gort Na Mona who had turned up. This game was played as ground hurling in order to give our opposition a bit of a chance, but Brid Óg still dominated the game and ran out easy winners. Next was a match versus Rossa. This was played full rules and this time it was our opponents who had the upper hand from the start. The Ógs gave Rossa too much time on the ball and their skilful players punished the Ógs for it and took the victory.

Brid Og: Darragh, Che, Chris, Liam, Oisin, Tetchin, Donncha, Conor, James K

Also playing were a mini team of the two Conor's and James McC. They were joined by Alannah and played a marathon game against St Paul's. They shared plenty of goals and ran out winners by 15 goals to 3.
