P4 South Antrim Go Games

Venue: Colin Valley

Date: 15th March 2014

Brid Og were able to field 2 teams at the P4 games at Colin Valley. Some teams and players were late arriving so the 5 Ogs who were present at the 10am start time played a match against St Johns. Brid Og had most of the possession, but it was St Johns who took the lead. However, the Ogs battled back and 2 good strikes from Zack gave them a deserved victory. In the meantime more players and teams arrived so next up was the 2 Brid Og teams playing the 2 Rossa teams. Both games were tight and each club recorded a 1-0 win. Rossa won the 'A' match and Brid Og got instant revenge in the 'B' game with Tetchin scoring the only goal of the game.
The second game against St Johns was the next fixture. Again the Ogs were victorious, this time by 3-1 and again it was Zack who scored the goals. Following this, both teams played Davitts. Unfortunately the 'A' team lost against what was a strong Davitts team. Dara scored a goal in the 3-1 defeat. A combination of bad luck in front of goals and a good display from the Davitts goalkeeper cost the Ogs in this match. The 'B' team faired better, with James and Tetchin scoring in a 2-2 draw.
The final games were against Carryduff. The 'A' team ended the day with a 1-1 draw. They took the lead early on but couldnt manage to get a second and Carryduff scored an equaliser near the end. The younger 'B' team suffered their first defeat in their game against Carryduff.

Thanks to Kieran Megraw for organising these games and to John and Gavin for their help with the teams. The parents provided great support from the sidelines. Special mention as well to Saoirse and Chelsea-Lee who were
making their debuts today and both girls performed very well.

Pat Rice P2/P3 Blitz

15/02/2014Posted by Tara Baird

We had a great turnout today for the Pat Rice blitz with 2 young Eire Og teams.  Both teams played really well.  They both played St Bridget's and St Endas who mixed P2 and P3s together, whilst Davitts and Eire Og fielded a separate P2 and P3 team.

Our P2s Daniel, Aoife, Emma, Liam, Ronan and Oisin played their best match against St Bridget's with Daniel scoring 2 goals.  Special mention for Roisha our youngest player who made her debut against St Endas and showed that even at 4 years old you can play competitive hurling.  Ronan also made his debut and really shone in goals.  Emma despite an eye infection played 5 matches whilst Aoife was hard to keep on the sidelines playing 6 matches, 1 for St Bridget's.  Liam was great in midfield and Oisin was true to his word in the last match showing he was a team player!

Our P3s Liam G, Alannah, Sean, Fintan, Adam and James really played hard.  Sean saved some fantastic goals as did Fintan.  Liam true to form performed brilliantly in midfield and Alannah negotiated some nifty tackles. James and Adam played their first competitive matches today.  James showed off his skills in defence and midfield and Adam showed fantastic promise.

Thanks to Rhona, Paddy and Kevin for helping with the team today and to Ciaran and David for organising the matches.   Thanks to all the parents who stayed and supported Eire Og from the sidelines, it means a lot to the kids to play in front of their parents.

P4 S Antrim Go Games
Venue: Andersonstown Leisure Centre
Date: 14th Feb 2015

It was the turn of the P4s, and a couple of younger kids, to play at the Go Games this week. We managed to get a second team added to the roster after Loch Mor pulled out. St Teresa's also did not field, so both Brid Og teams faced games against Gort Na Mona and O'Donnells.

There were 11 kids playing for Brid Og and joining the team were Darragh, Conal, Shea and young Aodhan from St Agnes. The Brid Og Belfast team played O'Donnells first and Darragh scored a debut goal to give the Ogs the win by 1-0. The Brid Og Antrim team played Gort Na Mona and had a reasonably comfortable 2-0 victory, with Conor scoring both goals. The Belfast team then played Gort and came away with 3-0 victory. Donnacha grabbed a hat-trick including a long range shot from his own end-line, which travelled the full length of the pitch and caught the goalkeeper by surprise. The Antrim team then played out a comfortable win over O'Donnells with James K being the main scorer this time. To round off the games, the two Brid Og teams played each other, but no-one was counting the score in this one.

It was another good day for Brid Og, with no goals conceded in the 4 matches and was good warm-up for the North Antrim league the following day.

Brid Og squad: Conor, James K, James S, James McC, Liam, Darragh, Conal, Shea, Aodhan, Donnacha, Ciaran
