U12 Development v Lamh Dhearg
Venue: Lamh Dhearg
Date: 22nd June 2015

Brid Og's U12s continued their development league with an away trip at Lamh Dhearg. In perfect hurling conditions ( strange for this venue!) the Og's played their part in an entertaining game of hurling with both sides trading scores especially in the first half. In the second half Lamh Dhearg switched their players positions and were more clinical with their possession and ran out victors on the final whistle.

I would like to thank John for helping with the team and thanks to our sizeable parental and family support. Finally well done to our players who are using this league to develop their hurling skills. It is also great to see that the players are trying to bring to the games some the drills we are introducing at training.

U12 Development v Loch Mor
Venue: Kirkwood
Date: 15th June 2015

Brid Og U12's continued their league development campaign with an away game against Loch Mor. Unfortunately due to school commitments we were only able to field 9 players but it was decided that the game would go ahead as 4 players from Loch Mor volunteered to don the Brid Og shirt.

The first half  of this game followed the same path as previous matches as we were second to the sliotar all over the pitch and at times we give our opponents the time to show their hurling skills and they turned this possession in scores.

In the second half the players positions were totally changed and we started to protect Thomas in goals with battling performance from Brian, Gerard and Owen in defence. This give our midfield David and the two Niall's  the confidence to attack our opponents and supply the sliotar to our forwards Dara and Pearse. This match was truly the game of 2 halves as our possession in the second half lead to scores from Brian, David, both Niall's and Pearse and at the final whistle we were beaten by a single point.

I would like to thank Banjo for letting us field with several of his Loch Mor players. I would like to thank John for helping with the team and to our large parental support who helped transform our teams performance in the second half. Finally well done to the players. The U12 league is seen as a development league and this is exactly what this young team is doing . It must be remembered that the majority of this team tonight were P6's and they are competing effectively against teams which contain first years.

Challenge Match v Creggan

U12 Challenge game v Creggan
Venue: Musgrave
Date: 13th June 2015

Brid Og's U12 continued their good league form into a challenge game against Kickhams Creggan who travelled to Musgrave Park.

Originally we planned to play 3 x 15 minutes but with the weather being so good and hurling shown by teams being of the highest standard we managed to fit in an extra 10 minutes.  Both teams were able to field 11 players and in fairness over the hour of hurling Creggan would have edged the victory in possession and scores but we had spells in the game were our team played some excellent hurling with the highlight being the goal scored by Eoghan who pulled the sliotar on the volley into the back of the Creggan net. It was also nice to rotate the players positions and Gerard vacated his usual position in defence for a midfield role.

Thanks to Michael for bringing his Creggan side to Musgrave today. Thanks to John for helping with the team and to Seamus for supplying the kids with drinks and snacks. Finally well done to our players today were played great hurling against a very skilful Creggan team. Well done to Niall and Thomas who played an hours hurling after taking part in a football blitz in the morning . I also hope Conlan is ok after taking a knock during the game which meant he had to retire from the match.

Brid Og Panel: Adam, Conlan, Darragh, David, Eoghan, Fintan, Gerard, Jack, Niall, Pearse, Thomas
