Challenge Match v Carryduff

07/09/2015Posted by Darren Hamill

U12 Challenge game v Carryduff

Venue: Musgrave Park

Date: 7th September 2015

Brid Og's U12s continued their preparation for the Nipper Quinn championship with a challenge game against County Down side Carryduff at Musgrave.

The match consisted of 3 x 15 minute "thirds" under full rules. As both teams had 15 players ( 17 for Brid Og) it was decided to play the game on the full pitch. Carryduff started the brighter of the two teams and got several pointed scores but the Og's came back with several goals of their own. Both ourselves and Carryduff were having difficulty in clearing their defensive lines and the score tallies for each team grew in what was a very even and exciting game and at the final whistle there was very little between the sides.

Thanks

I would like to thank Fintan and the other Carryduff mentors for travelling to Musgrave. Thanks to John for looking after the team and to our parental support who came out in great numbers again. Finally well done to the players who played their part in a high scoring entertaining game

Challenge Match v Bredagh

U12 Challenge game v Bredagh
Venue: Cherryvale
Date:27th August 2015

Brid Og's U12s continued their preparation for the Nipper Quinn with a challenge game against County Down side Bredagh at Cherryvale. Again it was great to be able to field 16 players and the team is getting used to demands of playing on the larger pitch.

Bredagh came away victors on the evening but there was some great link up play and battling from the team which had been absent during our earlier league campaign. This resulted in the Og's getting a lot of quality scores and they played to the final whistle which was great to see. This has been a very busy week for the U12s as it followed an earlier challenge game against Ballyvarley and our final South Antrim league game v O'Donnells.

Thanks

Thanks to Liam for organising this challenge game. Thanks to John for helping with the team and to our large parental support who travelled across the city to cheer on the players. Finally well done to the players. We hope to continue their preparation with a couple of more challenge games in the near future. Special mention for Daniel, David, Niall D and Owen who all took knocks during the game but bravely played on.

Challenge Match v Ballyvarley

Challenge game v Ballyvarley
Venue: Ballyvarley
Date: 22nd August 2015

In preparation for our championship the Og's travelled to Banbridge for a challenge game v Ballyvarley. The format for the game were full rules and it was agreed to play 3 x 20 minute thirds.

Over the 60 minutes both sides put on a exhibition of the skills of hurling and the high scoring game was a credit to them. A special mention to new recruits Jamie and Matthew who put in excellent performances which defied their limited experience and both of them got onto the scoresheet.

Thanks
I would like to thank John B for the invite and I wish Ballyvarley the best of luck in their future games. Thanks to John D for helping with the team and to our parental support who hopefully enjoyed the game from the sidelines. Finally well done the players who are developing into excellent hurlers
