Challenge v lamh Dhearg

U8 and U10 Challenge Games

Venue: Lamh dhearg

Date: 19th September 2012

Eire Og's U6 / U8 and U10 teams were invited by Lamh dhearg to a series of games on their 3G pitch. Only Alannah and Liam fielded at U6 so they were added to ranks of Saint Brigid's team who also fielded an U8 team as well.

U10 Challenge Games

Unfortunately Saint Brigid's were unable to field at U10 level but Lamh dhearg had enough for 2 teams. Due to preparations for the Nipper Quinn championship our team was made up of our younger players and over the 45 minutes the Og's played in a total of 4 matches and the standard of hurling was very high. There were some great scoring with Andrew leading the way on goals and points but Daniel, Gerard and Pearse added to the scoring tally as well. At the final whistle there were a lot of tired players who had put in a great shift for the team.

I would like to thank Peter for inviting us to the blitz and John for bringing his Saint Brigid's players as well. Unfortunately due to the pitch being hired for football the games were cut short but all the players enjoyed the games.

U8 and U10 Go-Games

08/09/2012Posted by Darren Hamill

Eire Og's U8 and U10 hurlers were invited to Go Games at Lamh dhearg. The Og's U10 panel was a bit depleted due to the clubs preparations for the Nipper Quinn Championship but we had enough players to field one team instead of the usual two.

Eire Og v Rossa

The Og's first game was against Rossa. The game started even enough with Daniel and Stephen working hard in midfield. Young Pearse was playing brilliantly in nets and getting great protection from Caolan, Gerard and Jack C in defence.  Unfortunately the Og's were finding it to feed the forward line of Conor, Jack P and Mattie and Rossa pulled away with a couple of goals and points from distance.

 Eire Og v Glenavy

The Og's second game was against Saint Joseph's Glenavy. This was a great game of hurling between two equal sides and the movement of the sliotar resembled a pinball game. Unfortunately the Og's went down by a single point however this could have changed if Daniel's strike had been an inch lower and hit the back of the net.

Eire Og v Saint Agnes

The Og's third game was against the Aggies. Our numbers were boosted by Brendan who started in nets but after a while moved out to midfield. The Og's were on top in this game from the start and scores from Brendan and Pearse got us the victory.

Eire Og v Saint Gall's

The Og's final game was against Saint Gall's. Unfortunately the Og's found it difficult to clear their lines and the Saint Gall's midfield pairing were able to get scores from distance.

I would like to thank Kieran and Peter for inviting us to this blitz. The Og's support for both panels was fantastic as usual and a final big thank you to our young Og's who played brilliantly during the blitz.

U8 and U10 Football / Hurling Challenge Games

Venue: Woodlands

Date: 1st September 2012

Eire Og hosted a football and hurling blitz for our U8 and U10 teams. The format was games of 5 minutes halves and the teams participating were Eire Og, Gort Na Mona and Saint Agnes. Unfortunately Lagmore Gaels were unable to field a team.

Gort na Mona had great numbers and fielded their U8 teams against our U8 and U10 footballers. It was great to see the large number of players on the 3 lined out pitches and our hurlers trying out the skills of football

After the football games we resorted to the hurling and our U8 hurlers had games against the Gorts and Saint Agnes. Our U10 hurlers also had a game against Saint Agnes. Also some of our U8 hurlers fielded for the Aggies against Gort Na Mona.

Our first game was against Gort Na Mona and both teams showed a high levels of performance. The Gorts raced to a 2 goal lead but this seemed to kick start the Og's and we had the majority of the possession of the sliotar. This dominance resulted in a goal for the Og's with young Zack getting the final touch but unfortunately there was not enough time to get the equaliser the teams performance deserved.

Our second hurling game was against Saint Agnes. The first half was an U8, 5 a side game and the highlights were the performances of new hurlers Conall and Eve and the 2 goals scored by Jack P.

For the second half of the game the Aggies introduced their U10's and we included Conor Erskine and Brendan Murray Lopez to our ranks. The game started with ground rules and the Og's opened the scoring with a goal from Pearse. When the game moved to full rules Pearse scored a great point when he converted a free and finished his trio of scores when he got a second goal. The Aggies responded with 2 goals of their own but the Og's came away with the narrowest of victories.

Well done the Og's:

The U8 Panel:  Alannah  Aodhan  Callum  Caroline  Conall  Conlan  Conor Edwards  Conor Connolly  David  Eve  Jack  Jude  Oran  Pearse  Sophia  Zack
